We also believe in fully informing our clients about any aspect of the process they may have questions about, which is why we have created our FAQs page with commonly asked questions (and their answers) listed below.
If you have any questions about our services that you wish to have answered, call us today at 617-477-4257, and we'd be happy to assist you.
Q. How old do I have to be to start taking classes at the Parkway Driving School?
A. You have to be at least 15 years, 9 months and 1 day old. This is a requirement of the RMV.
Q. Do I need my permit to start Driving Education Classes?
A. You do not need a permit to attend classroom instructions. However, you do need your permit for driving lessons. We will need a copy of your permit to schedule driving lessons.
Q. What do I need to do to complete my driving education requirements?
A. 30 hours of classroom instructions, 6 hours of observation, 12 hours of driving lessons, 2 hours of parental/guardian classroom instruction
Q. How do I schedule my driving lessons?
A. You can schedule your driving hours on line by logging into the student/parent portal on the top right corner of the website. You can also call the office to schedule lessons.
Please note the restrictions below for scheduling driving lessons:
Call us today at
to learn more about our
driver education services
You may not take more than 6 hours of driving education a day
You may not take more than 2 hours of driving and/or observation in a given day
Driver Ed students may only schedule two driving hours per week.
Due to these restrictions, if you are enrolled in the intensive course, you may not drive or observe during the week of your classroom instructions
Q. Where is the pick-up and drop-off for the driving lessons?
A. You may choose your pick up location when you schedule your driving hours. We offer pick up at various convenient locations in the area.
Q. What is the $20 Driver's Education certificate fee?
A. This is the cost to process and pay the RMV for your driver's education certificate. Upon completion of all requirements, the school will send an authorization to the RMV stating you have completed the program. The RMV will then issue a driver's education certificate. This will not be mailed to you. It is electronically put on your driver history; you can verify your certificate at the www.massrmv.com website.
Q. When can I schedule a road test?
A. Once the RMV has received your certificate and 6 months have passed since you got your permit, you may take the road test.
Q. How can I schedule a road test?
A. You can schedule a road test by calling, emailing, or signing up online. We send a list to the Registry at least once a month. We cannot tell you the exact date or location until we receive it from the Registry. If you choose not to take the test with us, you can call the RMV and schedule your own appointment.
